If you’re ordering custom printed packaging for your brand for the first time, knowing how the process works saves time and avoids surprise costs. Here is the path a printed packaging order follows at Porpack.
1. Defining the requirement
Everything starts with the right information. In the first meeting we clarify:
- Product type (dry, liquid, oily, frozen, etc.)
- Packaging format (doypack, pillow bag, roll film, etc.)
- Dimensions and fill quantity
- Expected shelf life
- Whether filling is done into pre-made pouches or on an automatic machine
- Estimated order volume
2. Structure and material recommendation
Based on this information, our team recommends the barrier structure, layer combination and thickness. The goal is a structure that protects your product without being more expensive than necessary.
3. Design
If you have a ready design, we check that it is print-ready. If not, we also offer a design service. Points to watch at this stage:
- Number of colours: Each colour means a separate cylinder or plate, which directly affects cost.
- File format: Vector files (AI, PDF) are preferred.
- Mandatory information: Ingredients, production/expiry date area, barcode and legal statements.
- If you use an automatic machine: The position of the eyemark.
4. Printing method and prepress
Depending on the design and the order, rotogravure or flexo printing is chosen. Cylinders are then prepared for rotogravure, or plates for flexo. These prepress costs are one-off; they are not charged again for repeat orders of the same design (as long as the design doesn’t change).
5. Approval
Before production, the final design and technical specifications are submitted for your approval. A careful check at this stage prevents costly errors later.
6. Production
After approval, production is completed through printing, lamination, slitting and (if required) pouch making. At Porpack, standard production time is about 3 weeks, including plate preparation.
7. Shipping
Your products are packed and shipped to all 81 provinces of Türkiye, including Istanbul, and abroad.
Minimum order quantities
- Printed products: 300 kg and above
- Unprinted products: 150 kg and above
For printed products, tiered discounts per kilogram may apply as the order quantity increases.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I want to change the design? New cylinders or plates must be prepared for the colours that change. Tooling for unchanged colours can be reused.
I have several product variants. Do I need separate orders for each? Different designs require separate prepress. Creating a design family with shared colours and backgrounds is an effective way to reduce prepress costs.
Can I get a sample? You can discuss this with our team based on your project details.
